Useful Tips
- Before taking photographs of people and their house always ask permission. Some people will demand a tip if you take their photo.
- Conceal your money in a money belt or pouch under your clothes.
- Never change money on the street or in the black market. Always exchange it at banks, foreign bureaux or hotels.
- Remember that wild animals are ‘wild’, and always keep your distance, even if they appear harmless.
- Giving money to street kids and mothers is discouraged.
- Be vigilant when withdrawing money from ATMs. Do not accept any help from any one, and if you suspect the presence of a skimmer, do not use the ATM machine.
- If visiting neighbouring Tanzania or Zanzibar, a Yellow Fever Certificate is a must.
